■ Product Introduction:

Kaolin is a fine-grained clay mainly composed of kaolinite or hydrated kaolinite, with a pure texture. Its mineral composition is mainly composed of kaolinite, kaolinite, hydromica, illite, montmorillonite, as well as minerals such as quartz and feldspar. The crystal chemical formula of kaolin is 2SiO2 ● Al2O3 ● 2H2O. Kaolin is widely used in papermaking, ceramics, and refractory materials. It is also used in coatings, rubber fillers, enamel glazes, and white cement raw materials. A small amount of kaolin is used in industrial sectors such as plastics, paints, pigments, grinding wheels, pencils, daily cosmetics, soap, pesticides, pharmaceuticals, textiles, petroleum, chemical, building materials, and national defense.

Catalytic cracking catalysts (FCC catalysts) commonly use kaolin as a carrier, which is determined by several advantages of kaolin:

1. Kaolin has a double-layer octahedral structure with weak acidity on the surface and strong cracking performance for heavy oil molecules, which is a necessary performance characteristic for FCC catalysts.

2. Kaolin contains small amounts of active metal elements such as potassium and sodium, which do not neutralize or damage the acid centers of the catalyst.

3. Kaolin acid has high catalytic activity, thermal and hydrothermal stability, and good adhesion.

4. During long-term application, kaolin gradually generates kaolinite, which easily reacts with metals such as nickel and vanadium in the raw oil to form mullite, thereby passivating nickel and vanadium and preventing heavy metal poisoning of the catalyst.
